Return to In-house Programs main page. Creating Teamwork Basic Team Building Effective teams don't just "happen." Instead,
they are carefully nurtured into existence and systematically supported
throughout their life cycles. These are some of the things which challenge us when we are working in teams! During the workshop you look at the task and you look at the team. You analyze how well the team plans, communicates, manages conflict, builds commitment, and how well the team recognizes differences -- these are 5 of the 9 Characteristics of Effective Teams. You also look at the 7 Elements of Successful Team Management which includes: setting vision, mission, and goals, determine work scope, establish roles and responsibilities, and establish values and ground rules to name a few. Through the one-day Creating Teamwork Workshop you: Learn how to use the Team Performance Indicator which utilizes the 9 Characteristics. Learn the 7 elements of successful team management and how to use the Team Launch, Development and Planning Tool. Analyze how your team is doing against the 9 Characteristics and where to focus with the Team Launch, Development and Planning Tool. Use these tools to build stronger and more effective teams. The Benefits Learn simple tools which help you to understand your team.. Be able to assess where your team is strong and where it needs to develop. Have a structure for understanding team development. Plan next steps for your team's development. Who Should Attend Team members, team leaders, intact teams, facilitators. Advanced Team Building The advanced team building courses created by LMA are designed specifically for a team's next steps. Using the tools described in the Creating Teamwork program we can analyze where a team is and then design a team building event based on the findings. For example, a team may be experiencing difficulty with its communication skills, managing conflict, and roles and responsibilities. LMA would design an event which targeted these areas and could include helping the team work on real on-going tasks. So not only do you receive team building but the work goes on! The focus depends on the issues and work at hand. We can also include outdoor problem solving activities, the use of video feedback, and different types of feedback instruments.
