"Life can only be understood backwards; it must be lived forward."

Soren Kierkegaard

Change
On the subject of change ... We continue to see the need for people in all organizations to keep increasing their comfort and skills in working with change. For many there is a need to go further by leading creative change efforts. For others, there still exists a hope that sounds something like: "Okay I can deal with this next change ... then things can get back to normal and stay the same for a while." This may be accurate for some jobs ... for a while ... maybe!

With the new millennium many are experiencing the need to get rid of old behaviors and ways of working and bringing in the new. This appears to be the norm for many people and organizations and things do not seem to be staying the same for long periods of time. It is intellectually easy to understand that change is constant. It is harder to embrace when we are constantly surprised, challenged, pushed, and stimulated to make more rapid changes! In addition, it is easier to work with when we can feel excitement about all the changes we experience.

People who adapt easily to change can be compared to explorers. They are:

  • Comfortable with risk, ambiguity, and the unknown.
  • Constantly exploring and aware of their business environment with insights about: others needs, benefits for customers, ideas for service, impact of products and services, and improvements needed.
  • Constantly exploring and aware of their personal environment with insights about: their own needs, skills, values, emotions, confidence levels, and impact on others.
  • Aware of what they get excited about and how they can contribute.
  • Active in creating results with high standards that can help themselves and others.
  • Happy, thankful, and creative.

We hope and trust you are exploring and learning and wish you well in your endeavors.
